![]() Today, we have the pleasure of introducing the world to Pentiment, a 16th-century narrative adventure game directed by Studio Design Director Josh Sawyer. This is Obsidian’s third year being a part of the Summer Showcase, and for the third year in a row, we are announcing a new game. ![]() The announcement trailer, description, and some screenshots can be found below. The short gameplay trailer shows dialogue choices, a time/clock system, and other puzzle elements. While working on a masterpiece at Kiersau Abbey, Andres ends up 'tangled in a series of murders' that have taken place. The game features an art style reminiscent of late medieval-era drawings. ![]() Pentiment is set in 16th century Bavaria, and the player is put into the shows of a journeyman artist named Andreas Maler. While the game shown far seems to focus on narrative adventure elements and fewer RPG mechanics, its pedigree from Obsidian and Josh Sawyer means fans of previous works might find something interesting here. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass on day one. It is set to release in November 2022 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC ( Steam), priced at $19.99. During the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase 2022, Obsidian Entertainment announced Pentiment, a narrative adventure game directed by longtime Obsidian veteran Josh Sawyer. Currently staffed with 12 developers, the studio hopes to achieve a full roster between 65-70 as development continues to ramp up. Headquartered in the capital region of Washington, D.C., Something Wicked Games is fully remote and hiring across all positions. “Our first project, Wyrdsong, has been my dream game for some time now, and I’m thrilled to finally share it today.”ĭeveloped on Unreal Engine 5, Wyrdsong immerses fans in a dark historical fantasy where every decision has a consequence, both in this world and others yet to be discovered. “Our goal with Something Wicked Games is to utilize our independence and creative autonomy to create the next evolution of open world RPGs,” said Something Wicked Games CEO and Founder Jeff Gardiner. Staples’ 15-year tenure at Obsidian was highlighted with his Design Director role on The Outer Worlds, as well as his work as Lead Level Designer on Fallout: New Vegas. The studio’s talent roster also includes Co-Founder & Design Director Charles Staples (Obsidian Entertainment). Before making the difficult choice to leave Bethesda Game Studios following a 15-year career, Gardiner’s efforts on Fallout 76 saw its transformation into one of the most successful, robust examples of the games-as-a-service model. Gardiner served as lead producer and project lead across several of Bethesda’s flagship titles in the Fallout and The Elder Scrolls franchises. Gardiner’s career in games boasts some of the most well known franchises in the RPG space. Players will be challenged to question both their reality and the choices they make as Wyrdsong is set to expand, question, and re-define aspects of what makes up the current Role Playing Game genre. Wyrdsong is an occult historical fantasy RPG set in a fictionalized Portugal in the middle ages. ![]() Today’s announcement is coupled by an animatic teaser trailer for the studio’s first game, Wyrdsong. In an interview with VG 24/7, Thomas Puha, director of communications at Remedy Games, spoke about how the developer had worked on an Alan Wake sequel. Alan Wake 2 director Sam Lake notes that the game is a 'monster' and will be one of the biggest Remedy has written. The developer has yet to confirm a more specific launch window, but has promised regular updates on. With Lake’s comments on the sequel, it looks as though fans won’t have to worry about how the title will look. Developer Remedy Entertainment has confirmed that the Alan Wake 2 release date is set for 2023. As part of studio's deal with Epic Games. Survival horror games need to get the atmosphere right in order for the title to succeed. Both titles relied heavily on Northlight’s ability to create diverse and interesting environments that users could destroy while also offering environments that seamlessly morphed and changed. Games like Control and Quantum Break were both great-looking video games but they were more visually interesting due to how Remedy used environments. Remedy, the developer of Alan Wake 2 and Control, has partnered with Tencent to publish and localise Vanguard, its upcoming free-to-play title, in Asian markets. Alan Wake 2 would be a full-on survival horror game. Back in late 2018, Remedy announced that an Alan Wake TV show was in the works and today they revealed that AMC Networks (The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad) has bought the rights to the Alan Wake TV series. Instead, developers will be pushing for a Mature rating. Along with the update on Alan Wake 2, the developer also shared the news that they will be partnering with AMC Networks on an Alan Wake TV adaptation. Following months of speculation, developer Remedy Entertainment confirmed an Alan Wake sequel will finally release. Alan Wake got by with a Teen rating but didn't expect the same for Alan Wake 2. With the Finnish developer's recent announcement that it won't release an in-depth trailer or a playable demo this summer, a closer look at the available concept art can reveal several details surrounding Alan Wake 2's general setting. Since Remedy is comfortable with Northlight, it will have the opportunity to go further with the game engine than it has previously. It's finally happening, Alan Wake 2 is officially in the works. This average will become affected as a I buy new CDs to add to my collection. But speaking of that band, we did a tune someone showed me years ago. Maybe we should rename this forum: old timey + post avant garde.Yeah, it's funny how some discussions wind up in places you'd never imagine. But it's three minute length also includes two choruses of a T Monk-inspired piano solo, and a prelude that features the very big sound of the Antarctic Ross Ice sheet splitting apart. It is, recognizably, the inspired hornpipe, "Rights of Man", and with a rather traditionally performed mandolin lead. Why do I doubt that you'd encounter a discussion of such music on either the rock or the jazz forum. There's a certain irony, Mandolirius, to hear you owning up to such outside musical tastes on the "old-timey" forum. The William Tell Overture merged with the theme from Leave it to Beaver and My Maggie! Gotta love it. "RH Boy/My Maggie" was one of our more, ahem, serious pieces. One of my faves was called "Tell It To Beaver", which had parts of eight different tunes, starting with the "William Tell Overture" and ended with the theme from "Leave It To Beaver". We did "Delila" with the theme from "The Godfather" and lots of silly stuff. ![]() Another was "Secret Green Things", which was "Secret Agent Man", "The Green Leaves Of Summer" and "My favourite Things" (not in that order). We did a medley of the theme from "For A Few Dollars More" and "Pipeline". I didn't start the band, but I did manage to turn it into a vehicle for some crazy ideas I had. I was unemployed at the time and really wanted to learn more about arranging. This one was pretty straightforward, but Mandolirium had some pretty complicated arrangements, which were done by me. The sound and feel of the sustained accordion is perfect. I really like this, it is almost classical in this elegant arrangement. As for gigs, that band is no more, unfortunately. The speed up was always the way Rick played it but I had been listening to lots of Hungarian gypsy violin around that time, so we were all about the speed up. The guitar player doubled on accordion (which I was only jokingly aplogizing for). Greek and gorgeous.ĭo you play in Victoria? Anywhere else in the general vicinity? If so, and you are interested, I might be able to get you a gig at our local theater.Yeah, it's live. They way it speeds up sounds Greek to me. We mando players usually do well to add something that widens the field of our sound. ![]() We are definitely flying on the same airship. If that is a live recording, I think someone did a terrific job of it.Īnd i can see why you have positive comments about my own new CD creation. Correct? Plus bass, guitar, and accordion? Anything else? tell us something about the mandolins. Mike I am guessing that this is 2 mandolins, and not 2 tracks of 1 mandolin. Don't quite have it yet, but it kinda works. Lets see what we can do to pump some sunshine into dead horses.I've been working on a version of Angeline in 7/4. I am presently working on Angeline the Baker. Pick any tune you want, but make it something very common, something we all probably know, and have stopped listening to. No big changes to the tune, but can we play it in a way that the tune shines again, and will make the most jaded of old fiddlers want to play it. Take that tune and find a way to make it interesting again. Something that makes you fidget when a newbie plays the tune with enthusiasm. Preferabley something you have heard a thousand times more than you ever want to hear it.
